This regulated qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982 and subsequent changes including the latest updates.
This course includes the latest CPR and Coronavirus recommendations.
The recommended course duration is 1 day and the topics covered include the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness. The qualification is assessed via ongoing oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration.
The minimum contact hours for this qualification, excluding breaks should be for a minimum period of 6 hours over 1 day as a classroom course. In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer-based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.
You now have the option to complete your Emergency First Aid at Work course as a blended course, with 2 hours of online training followed by 4 hours in the classroom. Our blended training allows you to learn the theory at your pace, one to one with your instructor at a time that suits you.
This blended EFAW course meets all of the requirements under the HSE and Awarding Organisations and is available as a ProTrainings or Regulated Qualification.
All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, detailing their achievement. The HSE dictate, that to be valid in the workplace, learners must retake the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before the expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved. The HSE state that the full Emergency First Aid at Work qualification must be taken again to be valid in the workplace. Please contact ProTrainings for further information.
All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.
The HSE strongly recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher course and our online course meets this requirement.
Please be advised that the classroom course has a minimum age requirement of 14.
This course can be completed as the online part 1 of a 2-part blended course. After completing this online course, you may find and attend the classroom-only part 2 course and cut down on the number of days spent in the classroom.
This course gives learners the opportunity to gain a formally recognised regulated qualification. If you require funding, a regulated qualification is often required. Phone us and we can advise if needed. If you choose our course leading to a regulated qualification, there are additional assessment criteria to be undertaken with an instructor and a small extra certification charge.
